Press Release, April 2000

Ludwood Interactive announces the launch of the official Free the Cambridge Two Campaign web site at www.cambridgetwo.com

The Free the Cambridge Two Campaign has launched its official web site at www.cambridgetwo.com to highlight the case of the two jailed charity workers. The site is designed and managed by Ludwood Interactive, a web design company that specialises in the charity and association sectors.

The Cambridge Two: Ruth Wyner (Director) and John Brock (Manager) of the Wintercomfort Day Centre in Cambridge, England, were arrested in May 1998 by police following an undercover investigation which revealed that a number of homeless customers were dealing drugs at the day centre.

On December 17 1999, Ruth and John who have between them, spent over thirty years helping the homeless, were sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court to five years and four years in prison, respectively.

Alexander Masters, Chair of the Free the Cambridge Two Campaign, said: "The site is a fantastic way to communicate with a wide audience about the injustice of these convictions. It has given us a valuable new resource to further raise the profile of the campaign and make people aware of the wider implications for all those working in the charity sector and related fields."

The site gives charities a chance to offer practical support to the campaign, "We are asking visitors to the site to download a copy of the campaign logo or banner for display on their own web site to show support. We have also included a "Campaign links" section on the site to recognise organisations that have done this", said a Director at Ludwood Interactive.

Visitors to the site will find: constantly updated case and campaign news, a personal section containing correspondence from Ruth and John and their families, a transcript of the sentence and detailed responses from the campaign.

Site features such as the discussion forum and quiz allow users to express their opinions on the issues surrounding the case and learn more about the campaign in a more interesting and interactive way.

They regularly liaised with police and Ruth spoke out about the heroin in the press and at conferences. Yet instead of co-operating with their work, the police arrested them. They've destroyed the lives of two dedicated charity workers and their families."

5. The "Get Involved" section of the site encourages visitors to give practical support to the campaign by: volunteering to help, giving financial assistance, sending a letter to their MP or by simply downloading a campaign poster to be displayed. 5.
